A special congratulations to Mr. Grady Gibbons on his retirement!
Grady was brought onto the team in 2008 as a QC Manager. Since then, he’s served as both Construction Manager and Construction Director in our Beaumont/Lake Charles region. Over the years, Grady has represented ISC by being active in industry events and organizations, even serving 2 years as Chairman of the Board for ABC’s Southeast Texas Chapter. Thank you, Grady, for your dedication and loyalty, and we wish a healthy and enjoyable retirement!
ASSOCIATE HIGHLIGHT – IVAN JANIS
Ivan was hired by ISC in 2006 and spent the majority of his tenure at the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge site. Over ten years ago, ExxonMobil and Baton Rouge Community College developed a new training program tailored for the petrochemical industry called the “North Baton Rouge Industrial Training Initiative” (NBRITI). This cutting-edge program provides NCCER training to individuals from the surrounding community for various trade skills such as electrical, instrumentation, welding, and pipefitting. Classes meet 3 nights a week for 3 hours over the course of a year. ISC partnered with ExxonMobil at the program’s inception, with Ivan playing a key role. His efforts include assisting with interviews and job fairs, providing supplies, and for the last 5 plus years, Ivan has gone above and beyond taking the role of the Electrical Instructor for the program. Not only does Ivan assist with developing the curriculum and lessons that he teaches students, but he also oversees the lab activities which allows for hands-on opportunities for all students. So, in addition to his work as the superintendent over ISC’s maintenance contract at BASF Geismar, he spends an additional 9 hours a week teaching our next generation of electricians. Ivan is a great leader and role model for ISC’s associates that have the opportunity to work with him, but also for the countless “future associates”, as he likes to call his students. We are fortunate to have him on our team and applaud the work he’s done in our workforce development efforts internally and within our beloved community.
Below are a few quotes we’ve collected by those fortunate enough to work alongside him:
“On the jobsite or working with North Baton Rouge Training Initiative, Ivan is all in for workforce development. His passion for training, mentoring, teaching, and helping everyone to further their career is amazing. In the classroom or working in the lab, he always has every student engaged in the activities. The smile on his students’ faces and appreciation they show for him at graduation shows how much of an impact he has made on their lives. Thank you, Ivan!” – Pete Denham, ISC Workforce Development Director
“Too often, we don’t take the time to recognize the few of us who go above and beyond to make a difference when it comes to the current work force and just in general to the upcoming youth of this great nation. Only a few people come to mind when I think of this subject, but fortunately, I’ve had the pleasure of working with and along the side of someone who unselfishly fits this description and who I’m glad to call a friend. He consistently goes out of his way to help others and puts in countless hours after a full day of work to teach and help educate the next generation of electricians. I would like to say thanks and recognize Mr. Ivan Janis for doing what we all talk about and making this a better place to work and live. Keep up the great work, brother!” – Floyd Chatagnier, Corporate Environment, Health, & Safety Advisor. Former ISC Site Manager of ExxonMobil Baton Rouge
“Ivan Janis has been an integral part of NBRITI as an electrical instructor for over 5 years. He has trained over 100 students during his time with us and it’s evident he believes in what he does. It’s clear to see that whenever you talk with any of his students or colleagues. I hope he stays with us for a long time.” – Howard Veeder, Interim Dean for Technical & Adult Education at BRCC
“Ivan is an instructor that personifies “all-in” for the NBRITI students. He is tireless in growing their skills technically and coaches the students on life skills as well. He is such a value to the program. We greatly appreciate his dedication, engagement and leadership.” – Baraynia Robillard, BRA Workforce Development Manager for ExxonMobil Product Solutions
