About the Project
ISC was contracted by ExxonMobil in 2017 to perform the electrical and instrumentation work associated with upgrading several units at the Baton Rouge refinery. This project began with pre-turnaround planning and coordination that would ultimately culminate with an integrated turnaround of the five units, formally known as the 2019 Legacy Event — a planned overhaul of multiple units that had reached their life expectancies. As an international industry leader in almost every aspect of energy and chemical manufacturing and a leading contributor to the direct economic growth in Louisiana, maintaining efficiencies for ExxonMobil was crucial in successfully completing this project. ISC’s portion of the contracted scope included the designing and construction of temporary power, the upgrade of all electrical and instrumentation systems and the installation of a High-Integrity Pressure Protection System, as well as organization and execution of all aspects of the project including temporary power, pre-turnaround construction, turnaround execution, cost and scheduling, safety and quality control. Our team overcame several unique challenges, including sustaining efficient manpower and rare, drastic levels of winter weather, to successfully complete this project with zero OSHA recordable incidents.
