Ron Landry, Dow Louisiana Operations Reliability, Maintenance, Engineering & Construction Director and award presenter commented, “Congratulations on this outstanding achievement. The presentation was held on September 14th at the Marriott Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Area high schools, high school educators, as well as skilled craft contracting companies and industrial facilities received top awards. Approximately 350 guests attended the event where Mr. Tom Yura, Senior Vice President at BASF in Geismar, Louisiana, presented the keynote address on crucial efforts to “Sustain Louisiana’s Workforce” after the recent period of doubling the craft workforce.
The program recognized industrial construction and maintenance contract companies who demonstrated excellence in investing in workforce development programs. Award recipients personified elements of an excellent program, including: recruitment, assessment, training, career path development and retention of employees. Nominations of contractors were provided by BASF, Deltech, The Dow Chemical Company, ExxonMobil, Nalco, Olin, OxyChem, Shell Chemical, Shell Refining, and Syngenta.
High schools, nominated by ISC, industrial owners and other area contractors, were awarded for an outstanding performance of implementing career and technical education classes related to construction. Central High School, a partner of ISC, received an Award of Merit. In addition, ISC partner Dutchtown High School received an Award of Recognition.
Founded in 1989, ISC is an industrial electrical, instrumentation and controls company offering engineering, construction and maintenance services. The company employs over 2,500 people primarily in the southern region of the United States. ISC and their associates have contributed to 125 charitable organizations over the past year, and have taken an active leadership role in developing the industry’s workforce to meet future manpower demand.
